The Chevrolet Volt is the first Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) manufactured in the automotive market. The EREV system is also used in the Cadillac ELR and Chevrolet Malibu – and soon to be used in other models. It operates in several modes as an electric vehicle, series hybrid, and parallel hybrid modes. The operation of the EREV system is unlike any other system and it is critical that technicians understand this system before analyzing or diagnosing it. This series will provide technicians with the operational background of the EREV powertrain and battery pack system coupled with perspectives on diagnostics and service, and Scan Tool PID information. At the conclusion of this series, the technician will know how the operational modes of this system and how diagnostic strategies apply to servicing the system. Scan Tool PIDs will be studied as part of the series.
This class results in a certificate of completion that will be provided to the participant after successfully completing all online training sessions in the series. The certificate and its stated hours are eligible for NATEF annual credit and may count toward other professional development requirements.
